May 19th-1st Fabio Santos Invitational

Once again the Boxing Club Jiu-Jitsu competition team showed why it is one of the best programs in San Diego! Because of a problem with the registration, only five of our students were able to compete on Saturday. Donte Kendricks (207lbs) dominated his division by submitting both of his opponents to make it to the finals where he won by a majority decision on points. Michael Wasser (181) had to fight two wars in his divisions before making it into the finals. In his first fight Mike was able to come back with one minute left to score and make it an even match. Mike was able to win due to advantages and advanced. In his second fight Mike fought and was able to tap out his opponent with a kimura. In the finals Mike dominated his opponent and won via Americana submission. Jose Gonzales (154) made it look easy as he arm bared both of his opponents to win his division.

 

Mathew “Charlie Chaplin” Poppa lost his first fight by armbar. This was Mathew’s first tournament and we are proud of his dedication and training.

 

The Boxing Club took 5 fighters and came home with 3 first place finshes!

 

 

 

 

Event: Battle Of San Marcos

Date: April 21, 2007

 

Result: Edwin Aguilar win by 1st rd knockout

On April 14th in Tijuana, Mexico, Scott Catlin debuted in his very first Professional MMA fight. The event was called Cage Of Fire and Scott did not disappoint his team or his fans. Scott scored a tapout win in the 4th minute of the first round against a very tough opponent from Poway’s Brikhaus.

On March 31st, 2007 the MMA Fight Team travled to Yuma Arizona to a Professional Mixed Martial Arts event called "Total Combat".
