2010s Music Recap

IT'S A DECADE MUSIC RECAP, Y'ALL!

If you know TBC, you know how important music is to us. If you aren’t as familiar with us, welcome and get ready to feel that bass. The 2010s was a time of exploring new types of music and new types of artists. Cardi B and Lizzo flooded our screens and playlists (whether we liked it or not)  And we had some continue to kill the game, aka Drake & Ariana Grande (whether we liked it or not). As we enter 2020 and this new decade, let’s reminisce on the songs that made up the last decade. We went from boppy Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe”  to Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” to Lady Antebellum tugging at our heartstrings, to SZA, The 1975, Kendrick Lamar and Frank Ocean and more. Boy bands such still flooded the hearts of teenage girls and this last decade highlighted using music to lean into heartbreak, political outcries, celebrations, and all the “vibes”.

Ke$ha took over the beginning of the decade and Lil Nas X / Lizzo closed it. Will the 2010s be known as the streaming era? EDM? Hip-hop? Pop-overload? Taking a stand through music? Surprise with a new album? Country meets top 40? Some of us might be saying thank u, next to the 2010s, but the iconic music and history throughout will impact us and the music we hear in this next decade.

Because music is so influential to our well-being, our workouts, and the culture at TBC, we highlighted some of the most influential songs that came out of the last decade (according to what we most listened to back then). Are you ready to take a trip back in time for your next workout? Perhaps, help remind you of where you once were and remind you of where you want to be or where you are going?
