Bret Martineau

Bret, originally from Arizona, joined The Boxing Club in 2014 with no boxing or martial arts experience. In just 2 years, he has participated in multiple Muay Thai bouts and currently plays an active role in raining fighters and members. He has a unique perspective of going from zero background to competing and teaching in a very short time, which gives him the ability to help others with no previous experience to get in shape and learn a new skill. He’s a living, breathing testament to what is possible at TBC if you work hard and are dedicated. Ask him to show you his before pictures.

His pre­ TBC background, although devoid of combat sports experience, is not boring. Bret is an avid volleyball player. He played throughout high school and college, and has won 5 different local championships since moving to San Diego. He has a degree in Russian with a secondary major in hilosophy, and has lived abroad in Ukraine and Russia for a combined total of almost 3 years. Bret’s professional life has also been interesting. Throughout high school and college he was a professional musician ­ performing at weddings and playing with several bands that he was in ­ as well as teaching voice, piano, and guitar. He has spent the last 10 years since college as a marketing operations consultant.
