Bret, originally from Arizona, joined The Boxing Club in 2014 with no boxing or martial arts experience. In just 2 years, he has participated in multiple Muay Thai bouts and currently plays an active role in raining fighters and members. He has a unique perspective of going from zero background to competing and teaching in a very short time, which gives him the ability to help others with no previous experience to get in shape and learn a new skill. He’s a living, breathing testament to what is possible at TBC if you work hard and are dedicated. Ask him to show you his before pictures.
His pre TBC background, although devoid of combat sports experience, is not boring. Bret is an avid volleyball player. He played throughout high school and college, and has won 5 different local championships since moving to San Diego. He has a degree in Russian with a secondary major in hilosophy, and has lived abroad in Ukraine and Russia for a combined total of almost 3 years. Bret’s professional life has also been interesting. Throughout high school and college he was a professional musician performing at weddings and playing with several bands that he was in as well as teaching voice, piano, and guitar. He has spent the last 10 years since college as a marketing operations consultant.
